The second round of the 1:18 scale series at www.hrcr.dk track north of Copenhagen was held on December 11, 2005. This was the third season that the local club and the Danish XRAY Distributor (www.rcmodel.dk) has hosted a grand prix series with the 1:18 scale cars. This season the track has once again been improved and is very suitable for the size and speed of the cars. The rules are simple: XRAY M18 car out of the box with XRAY 180 micro stock motor, standard XRAY ESC, 5-cells 1100mAh batteries, GRP foam tires, and touring car bodies. A few option parts were allowed, such as a motor heat sink.

We had a total of 70 registered drivers for the XRAY M18 in the club, so the M18 is very popular and great fun to race.

The race format was two rounds of 6 minutes qualifying and three finals (counting 2 of 3 best) of 6 minutes. Lap times at the track was around the 10 second mark.

Peter Harder was flying and taking TQ in both qualifying rounds. In the second round he broke the 10sec lap time barrier making a lap 1 at 9.98sec and lap 2 at 9.86sec.

In the finals we raced with 6 drivers and the A final line up was Peter Harder, Janus Harder, Martin Lissau, Kenn Antvorskov, Ole Harder and Claus Nielsen. The first A final was a walk in the park for Peter Harder but in the second Martin Lissau was flying and did a new track record with 9.76sec and really showed why he is one of the new RC racing stars (Martin is 2005 DHI Cup stock 1:10 touring car champ and junior 1:5 European champ).

With less than 1 minute left in the final, Martin made a mistake and the speed also dropped giving Peter Harder his second win and overall victory.

The final results of the A main were:
1. Peter Harder
2. Martin Lissau
3. Janus Harder
4. Kenn Antvorskov
5. Claus Nielsen
6. Ole Harder

The next round is on January 8, 2006 and again we hope to see some good, exciting racing. For those of you who have not seen an M18 in action – please do so. You will be impressed by the speed and performance even when it is the stock class. Through 3 seasons we have learned some tricks and tips to get the maximum out of this car and it is remarkable. Drivers who have raced 1:10 touring car are also very impressed.

See you out there and please try it out – you get a lot value for your money.
